Joint Statement on DACA From the Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees

As a proud member and funder of Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR), we join our philanthropy colleagues in signing a joint statement in support of immigrants and refugees in our communities.

The Foundation has a long history of awarding grants to immigrant-focused nonprofits that provide job training, resettlement services, English as-a-second language education, supports for entrepreneurs to start local businesses, and legal services, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) enrollment assistance. Some of our most recent grants have supported the coordination of organizations dedicated to increasing outreach, education and legal services to immigrants in our region.

In 2015, the Hartford Foundation joined other foundations as part of the Immigration Strategic Funders Collaborative of Connecticut, which is part of the Delivering on the Dream (DOTD) network of 18 funding collaboratives in 15 states managed by GCIR. The network has deployed nearly $40 million in local, state, and national funding to support DACA implementation since 2012. Our participation in the DOTD network continues our commitment to the immigrant community in the region and leverages our local impact with statewide and national philanthropy.
