Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s Board of Directors Names New Officers
JoAnn Price has been elected to serve as chair of the volunteer board of directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving – the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region. Price succeeds Yvette Meléndez, who completed her three-year term as chair but will be serving one final year on the board of directors.
Price, who joined the Board in 2010, is a founding partner and president of Fairview Capital Partners, Incorporated, headquartered in West Hartford.
At Fairview, Price was instrumental in establishing a community giving program that encourages staff to be actively involved in community, art, cultural, health care and educational institutions as a corollary to the company’s giving program. Prior to co-founding Fairview in 1994, Price served as president of the National Association of Investment Companies in Washington, D.C., for more than a decade. Prior to her selection as chair, Price served as vice-chair of the Foundation’s board. She will also serve as chair of the Foundation’s Investment Committee.
In other board appointments, Theodore “Ted” Sergi was elected vice chair and Andrew Worthington was elected treasurer.
Sergi, retired president and CEO of the Connecticut Science Center and former Connecticut Commissioner of Education, was appointed to the Board in 2014. He serves as chair of the Foundation’s Policy and Strategy Committee.
Worthington is a partner and senior vice president with Long River Advisors, a nine-person wealth management team with UBS Financial Services. He was appointed to the board in 2015 and serves as chair of the Foundation’s Development Committee.
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for Hartford and 28 surrounding towns. In 2015, the Foundation celebrated 90 years of grantmaking in the Greater Hartford region, made possible by gifts from thousands of generous individuals, families and organizations. It has awarded grants of more than $650 million since its founding in 1925. For more information about the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, visit hfpg.org or call 860-548-1888.
