Hartford Foundation Announces More Than $380,000 Grants in Third Round of Phase Two Grants from COVID-19 Response Fund

Foundation Seeking Additional Requests from Nonprofit Organizations to Support COVID-related Expenses

In March, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving launched the COVID-19 Response Fund to rapidly deploy resources to support the residents who are most significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The Fund has transitioned from emergency response to ensure nonprofit staff and clients are prepared and safe during the re-opening phase of the pandemic. Grant awards support re-opening costs that nonprofits expect to incur over a six-month grant period including personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning, small COVID-related infrastructure accommodations, technology to support virtual services and/or remote staff, staff health screenings, etc. and must be in alignment with state and federal public health guidelines for safely re-opening facilities.

"As we have seen an increase in the number of people testing positive for COVID-19, we remain committed to ensuring that Hartford Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund is able to provide many of our nonprofits with the dollars they need to protect their staff and safely support the residents they serve,” said Hartford Foundation President Jay Williams. "This latest round of grants from the Fund includes support for a number of social service providers, arts organizations as well as several faith-based organizations that are providing vital support to residents who continue face challenges from the prolonged economic and public health crises.”

The third round of Phase Two of COVID-19 Response Fund grants totaling $384,652 supports 26 community-based organizations that provide a variety of critical services. Since its launch, the Fund has made more than 200 grants totaling $8,943,839 to nonprofits. The Foundation has committed a total of $10.5 million to the Fund and encourages Greater Hartford nonprofits in need of support for re-opening costs over a six-month period to apply.
