A Tribute to Our Board Member, Justice David M. Borden
We at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving were saddened this weekend at the news that Justice David M. Borden had passed away following a year-long battle with cancer.
Borden, a retired Connecticut Supreme Court Justice, was appointed to our board of directors in 2007 by the Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. He also served on our Governance Committee.
Throughout his career, Justice Borden was a well-respected member of the court system, who, among myriad other achievements, worked to reform juvenile sentencing. He was the recipient of many honors, including the Raymond E. Baldwin public service award. Earlier this year, his portrait was unveiled at the appellate courtroom on Elm Street in Hartford.
In addition to his work with the courts, Borden was a teacher at UConn and philanthropist in the Greater Hartford community. He was a good man who will certainly be missed. Our thoughts are with the Borden family during this difficult time.
