Hartford business owner spreads the word about Foundation scholarships

As owner of Shallimar Barber & Beauty Salon on Blue Hills Avenue in Hartford, Ophni Davis helps his customers in countless ways. He offers free haircuts to neighborhood kids before school starts. He encourages his customers to get screened for prostate cancer and to go to college. The list goes on. That’s why Ophni keeps a stack of the Hartford Foundation College Scholarships Directories on hand.

Pictured above, at a recent visit to thank Ophni for his efforts, are Nancy Woodward, who manages the Foundation’s scholarship program, and Lew Robinson, vice chair of the Foundation’s board of directors (and salon customer).
