Scholarship Funds

Whether you've contributed to the Hartford Foundation's General Scholarship Program, or established a fund with an external selection process, you're helping students achieve their dream of a college education.

Scholarship Recipient Report
Each year we create a report that details the many scholarship recipients. We send it to everyone who has contributed to a scholarship fund at the Hartford Foundation, to show you whose life you are changing. Or, you can download the most recent report by clicking here. (This is a large document, it may take a while to open.)

Choosing Scholars
If you joined the Hartford Foundation's General Scholarship Program, we will recruit, interview, and select scholars to receive renewable awards of up to $3,000 per year. Our Volunteer Scholarship Committee conducts these interviews, and we invite you to let us know if you would like to participate.

If your fund has an external selection process, we will notify you early in the calendar year about how much will be available from your fund for awards. Your committee will recruit, interview, and select your nominees and submit them to the Foundation for approval by the mutually-determined deadline. We'll handle the review and approval and confirm everything with you or your designee.

Notifying Scholarship Recipients
The Hartford Foundation will send the good news to the selected scholars, including your fund name if you have a separate scholarship fund. We will instruct them to send invoices from their college, and we will pay the grants directly to the student's college.

We will also inform scholars selected through the General Scholarship Program how and when to apply for each year's renewal award, and continue tracking payments throughout their college years.

Each year, the Hartford Foundation produces the Greater Hartford Area College Scholarships Directory, which is available to students in an online, searchable format.
